This white paper provides an overview for policymakers of the reasons that score comparisons across assessments are especially important now, and explores what is likely to be possible and impossible regarding comparisons across assessments in the era of the Common Core State Standards, assessment consortia, and “college-ready” assessments. The paper was developed for the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).
